There’s always something special going on at a Los Angeles derby and this one was no exception. Undefeated for 5 games against their rivals, the Clippers saw themselves making their roommates Angelinos bite the dust once again. For that, no Paul George or Kawhi Leonard but a collective that continues to do the job week after week. The collective against the stars Purple and Gold, it’s a bit the same refrain with each confrontation this season and it has always ended in favor of the players in the white jersey so far. And then tonight? Another game that delivers its verdict in the last seconds, another game that is played on nothing and still the Clippers who manage to manage money time better than the neighbor. Despite a complicated start to the match, the Lakers had yet set the record straight when they returned from the locker room. The momentum had clearly changed sides, the Clippers seemed to have taken a hit on the noggin and it was just necessary to finish the job. A mission too complicated for Frank Vogel’s men… However, there were opportunities to validate this one. Even after the big shot from Marcus Morris, victory was still largely achievable. Westbrook’s missed shot, LeBron James’ offensive rebound with the foot outside, everything seemed written. And no, fate was going to offer another opportunity to the Lakers with good pressing which resulted in an eight-second whistle violation against Reggie Jackson. A last possession for the win that will speak for itself and that will make the rounds of all basketball schools, but not for the right reasons.

A magnificent brig of Melo, Reggie Jackson who does not fail on the line and the Clippers therefore validate a sixth victory in a row in the derby. At the same time, they put a little space between them and their hated neighbor in the rankings. A great double operation which should delight the fans just like the great effort shown by the group this night. Seven players in a double figure, great composure so as not to completely sink after having let a sixteen-point advantage pass, the lucidity to finish the job. Everything is not perfect and we even have some serious air pockets at times, but given the weapons available, it’s hard not to congratulate Tyronn Lue’s men.
