Tennis Maria Sharapova gave birth to her first child

The former Russian champion gave birth to a little Theodore, born of her love affair with British businessman Alexander Gilkes.

Former world tennis No. 1 Maria Sharapova is now a mother. The former Russian champion has announced the birth of her first child, a baby boy named Theodore, born on July 1.

“The most beautiful, stimulating and rewarding gift our little family could ask for,” she captioned a photograph posted Friday on Instagram.

The one who took his retirement from sport in February 2020prefaces his message with the simple mention “Theodore”, followed by the date of July 1, 2022 in Roman numerals and an emoticon representing a chick emerging from its egg.

Now 35, Maria Sharapova, world No. 1 in 2005, has won 36 tournaments during her prolific career, including five Grand Slams (Wimbledon in 2004, the US Open in 2006, the Open of Australia in 2008 and Roland-Garros in 2012 and 2014).

She announced her pregnancy last April. She is engaged since December 2020 with British businessman Alexander Gilkes.
