In an interview with Marion McMullen, celebrity dancers Dianne Buswell and Vito Coppola discuss balancing their work and parenthood following the birth of Buswell’s baby boy.
Returning to the Strictly Stage After a C-Section
Buswell returned to Strictly Come Dancing and prepared for a nationwide tour with Coppola shortly after giving birth to her son. Addressing how she manages her schedule, Buswell explained in the Magzter report, I don’t know yet. I have a really good team around me. I’ve got Joe, I’ve got his family and I’m really lucky that I am surrounded by people who let me go and do these things.
She added that she is extremely grateful
for the support system allowing her to balance her professional commitments with family life.
Recovery and an Unrelenting Work Pace
The dancer noted that she did not push her body to the extreme following the birth, explaining that she wanted to ease back into physical movement carefully. After undergoing a C-section, she focused on her recovery before resuming her intense physical schedule.

Buswell maintained a busy pace throughout her pregnancy, continuing to dance right up to the Strictly final before flying home to Australia for various projects, returning subsequently to film a television series.
The Self-Appointed Italian Uncle
Coppola described his relationship with the newborn, embracing the role of a close family figure. In the same Magzter feature, Coppola said, I am that crazy, crazy Italian uncle and I am so happy. He’s like a little angel, he’s a gift.
He noted a deep connection to the child, mentioning, I feel responsible for him because I knew him when he was still in Gorji’s belly.
Tour Safety and Pregnancy Behind the Scenes
Coppola recalled that Buswell was in the early stages of her pregnancy during their dance tour the previous year. He stated that he took active steps during performances to ensure that all dance lifts, catches, and grabs were executed safely for her.
