Market Insights: Long-Term Bond Rates Ease and Investor Opportunities

2023-11-28 19:11:44

A notable easing of long-term rates was observed on Tuesday, with the 10-year rate falling by 16 basis points, close to 4%. Furthermore, the 20-year rate also fell, falling to 4.8% following a drop of 9 basis points.

During this session, investors offered 8.4 billion dirhams to the Treasury, which ultimately raised 5.6 billion. This amount is much higher than the need of 2 billion dirhams initially announced, thus taking advantage of advantageous market conditions.

This drop in bond rates, widely anticipated by market operators, is mainly due to the easing of inflation and the prospect of a prolonged pause in the tightening of the key rate by the Central Bank.
