Jose Mourinho to “applauded” Saturday the transfer window led by the leaders of Roma even if the Portuguese coach refuses to make his Giallorossi candidates for the scudetto, on the eve of the first official match of the season at Salernitana. “Having taken five players of this quality, for seven million euros, I can only applaud”highlighted “Mou” during his very first press conference since the victory in the final of the Europa League Conference against Feyenoord (1-0) at the end of May.
Roma have mainly strengthened this summer with free players (Nemanja Matic, Paulo Dybala, number two goalkeeper Mile Svilar) and Dutch midfielder “Gini” Wijnaldum, on loan with option to buy from Paris Saint-Germain. Only the arrival of Turkish international defender Zeki Celik was accompanied by compensation of seven million euros paid to Lille.

Mourinho regrets the departure of Mkhitaryan and Veretout
“Only Lecce and Sampdoria spent less than us (in Serie A). (…) Lazio spent 39 million euros”, he pointed out. Mourinho nevertheless regretted the departure of “two important players for us” : midfielders Henrikh Mkhitaryan (left for Inter Milan), a “indisputable holder”and Jordan Veretout (Marseille), who “would have been among the 12 or 13 most used players”.
