Marking seven decades of community service, the Council is launching a $20,000 Community Activation Grant program for the 2026–2027 swim season, inviting local groups to design temporary events, historical displays, and family-friendly activities that celebrate the facility’s milestone anniversary, Look East reported.

Council Allocates $20,000 for 2026-2027 Community Projects

  • Event Activation Window: Approved projects will roll out directly across the 2026–2027 summer calendar, spanning from October 12, 2026, through April 2027.
  • Funding Allocation: Individual grants cap at $4,000 per successful applicant, drawing from a total pool of $20,000 managed by the Council.
  • Community Target Reach: Programming focuses on inclusive multi-generational engagement, prioritizing arts installations, recreational events, and historical exhibitions accessible to all age groups and abilities.

Celebrating Seventy Years of Community Infrastructure

Operating continuously for generations, the Norwood Swimming Centre has served as a central recreational hub for local families. To mark its 70th year of service, the Council is distributing financial support through the 70 Years of Norwood Swimming Centre — Community Activation Grant. Incorporated not-for-profit organizations, volunteer groups, sporting clubs, and educational institutions are eligible to apply for funding.

Projects must remain temporary in nature, align with core grant objectives, and remain open to the public throughout the upcoming swim season. Council Mayor Robert Bria emphasized the historical significance of the anniversary. “Norwood Swimming Centre has been part of life for generations of local families and it is a treasured community facility,” Bria stated.
