Daughter Lia emerged from her failed marriage to Harry Leemann – and she means everything to the 42-year-old.
Martina Hingis and Harry Leemann’s marriage became public a few months ago. Since then, the former professional tennis player has largely withdrawn from the public eye – until now! On Sunday evening, the 42-year-old mingled Gala evening of the Swiss touring theater “Das Zelt” among the prominent guests and was visibly satisfied and with a big smile. “I’m doing very well,” said Hingis in an interview with 20 minutes.
When asked about the divorce, however, she is covered. “I don’t want to comment on that,” she says firmly. Already you Statement on the separation in August 2022 suggested that the process would not be easy, as both parties had hired lawyers to clarify details about the care of their daughter. What the current legal status is remains open. What is clear, however, is that the little one is still the focus of the proud mom: “My daughter has the highest priority, everything else is secondary.”
Martina Hingis’ new family member is “very bright”
Daughter Lia turned four in March and already regularly swings the tennis racket himself. She takes part in the Bambini group of her grandmother Melanie Molitor in the tennis club Ried Wollerau SZ, where Hingis also regularly teaches the juniors.
Watching her daughter fills Martina Hingis with great joy, be it tennis, skiing or when she plays with Luxy the dog. The Border Collie-German Shepherd mix has been part of the family for six months. “We have a lot of fun with him, it’s great for a child to grow up with a dog. He’s very bright, there’s always something going on,” Hingis continues.
Two failed marriages
The life of the tennis player was very eventful even before the addition to the family. Her divorce in 2013 from French show jumper Thibault Hutin was a heavy blow for the five-time Grand Slam winner. Hingis got back on his feet and found a new love a few years later. In July 2018 she married the Zug sports doctor Harry Leemann. The two became parents, happiness seemed perfect. But after four years of marriage, disillusionment followed and the marriage broke up. The ex-couple did not want to comment on 20 minutes at the time about the specific circumstances.
