Mary Vidali “meets” Chekhov – 2024-02-17 19:22:53

In the 22 years that the Diachrono Theater closes this year, Mary Vidali has left her mark, putting on shows that highlight top works from the Greek and world repertoire with worthy and distinguished partners always by her side.

This is what happens this time too, with Anton Chekhov’s masterpiece “The Cherry Orchard”, which the Russian author wrote in 1903. The experienced, acclaimed director Yiannis Mortzos, who signs the direction, has completely respected Anton Chekhov’s text, he has avoided any experimental arrangement and he followed in his approach the teaching method of Karolos Koon, so that the important meanings of the work can be highlighted. It should be noted that in Greece, “The Cherry Orchard” was staged for the first time in 1939 by the Art Theater, directed by Karolos Koun. This was followed by significant stagings of the play by state stages as well as by independent theater troupes.

In the show that will be staged by the Diachrono Theater, three well-known actors of the repertoire, keep the main roles. Mary Vidali in the role of Liuba, Gaev as Odysseas Stamoulis and Babis Hatzidakis as Lopakhin. Also starring: Sotiris Antoniou, Marlene Karalis, Christos Marathias, Rose Mouzouri, Katerina Sotiriou, Vassilis Traiforos, Pericles Tsamantanis, Konstantinos Tsiomidis and Rodoula Hamilothori in the role of Anya.

The play is translated and illuminated by Giorgos Danesis, directed by Yiannis Mortzou, sets by Ioannas Katsiavos, costumes by Galina Sultanovitsi and musical composition especially for the performance by Thanos Georgoulas. Assistant director Christos Marathias. Contact: Daisy Lebesi.
