Maryland man is killed during a robbery while filling gas

A 54-year-old Maryland man was shot and killed during an apparent robbery car at a local service station, announced the Prince George’s County Police Department.

On December 19, around 11 p.m., officers arrived at a Largo, Maryland, gas station to find Lee Alexander Thomaswho allegedly lived a few blocks away, and was suffering from gunshot wounds.

Thomas was transported to an area hospital, where succumbed to his injuries a few hours lateraccording to the police statement.

Authorities are still investigating but believe Thomas was killed during a carjacking.

NBC Washington reported that Thomas’s white BMW was stolen during the fatal incident, and that Thomas was shot by two men while he was refueling before fleeing with his beloved car.

The victim’s brother, Ernest Thomas, also told NBC that his brother, who worked as a Metro bus driver, he had recently purchased his beloved vehicle to an old classmate. “He wouldn’t give up, yeah,” Ernest told the news outlet.

In another news release, Prince George’s County police said they were investigating a series of three alleged carjackings that occurred Monday night.

There is a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the Thomas case.
