Customs intercepted a shipment of 7.5 tonnes of cocaine in the port of Antwerp on Friday, the FPS Finances said. The drugs, hidden in a shipment of bananas, were transported by a ship from Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Nine people, including two minors, hidden in a container were arrested nearby. An investigation has been opened by the federal judicial police (PJF) in Antwerp and will determine whether there is a link between the drugs and the people arrested.
