Perth: 15 tons of illegal vapes (e-cigarettes) were seized in a raid conducted by the health department in Perth, Western Australia. More than 300,000 vapes worth $10 million on the black market were seized from a warehouse. Officials of the Western Australia Health Department said that it is the first time in the history of Australia that so many neems have been found in one raid.

More than 300,000 nicotine-laced vapes were seized from a warehouse in Perth’s north-east. Along with this, authorities also found more than 10 tons of nitrous oxide (laughing gas). WA Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said the raid was carried out following a tip-off from the public. Such vapes create deadly side effects for the health of youth and children.

When raids found cardboard boxes containing nicotine vapes stored in the warehouse

Vaping is a modification of smoking over time. Vaping is the inhalation of vapor (smoke) produced by a battery-operated electronic cigarette or e-cigarette. E-cigarettes are vapors that vaporize a liquid solution containing nicotine, flavorings, and other chemicals.

Studies have found that vaping use among teenagers leads to nicotine exposure that can become addictive and harmful to brain development. Nicotine from e-cigarettes damages lung tissue and lowers the body’s natural defenses.

Kids are quickly drawn to vaping because vapes are available in dozens of flavors like bubblegum and fruit flavors.

The neems were found stored in large cardboard boxes crammed into a warehouse in Perth. The lab test confirmed that it was mixed with nicotine.

One stick of neem contained 900 mg of nicotine. This is equivalent to about 100 cigarettes. In Western Australia it is an offense to possess or sell nicotine without a doctor’s prescription. It is punishable by up to three years in prison for individuals and a fine of A$45,000, and large fines for entities.

The total number of nicotine vapes seized in Western Australia is now equal to the total number of nicotine vapes seized in New South Wales in one year.

Vapes and e-cigarettes contain the same harmful chemicals found in cleaning products, nail polish remover, herbicide, bug spray, and paint stripper.

Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson praised those behind the raid. She said this is the result of the good work of the people and the local government.
