Bolivian police have seized more than 7.2 tonnes of cocaine hidden in scrap metal en route to a port in neighboring Chile for export to Europe. Interior Minister Eduardo del Castillo said it was the second largest drug seizure in the country’s history and would deprive drug traffickers of more than $451 million (€417 million). .

The drugs were discovered at a customs checkpoint in the Pisiga region on the Bolivia-Chile border, hidden in trucks carrying containers of scrap metal intended for export to Belgium, which has become a main gateway for cocaine cartels from Latin America to Europe, according to CBS News.
