Barbara Gandolfi: Human Trafficking and Prostitution Allegations in Belgium

2024-03-22 10:40:00

Barbara Gandolfi, suspected in a case of human trafficking and prostitution, is currently imprisoned in Belgium, according to our colleagues at Het Laatste Nieuws.
Several women from Hungary were allegedly forced into prostitution following being hired to work in a bar or strip club.

Belmondo’s ex-partner would have written the text of the advertisement on the website on which the prostitutes offer their services. Barbara Gandolfi’s ex-husband is suspected of having received half of the prostitutes’ earnings.

The investigating judge decided to charge Barbara Gandolfi on Monday. According to her lawyer Louis De Groote, she denies any involvement in the facts. The Bruges council chamber decided this Friday morning that Gandolfi must remain in prison for at least one more month. It is not yet known whether the defense will appeal this decision.

The Belgian is featured in the show “Les Taîtres” on RTL Tvi. The channel reacted this Friday morning to this information. “RTL will adopt a balanced and responsible approach to manage the situation while taking into account the presumption of innocence,” said Erwin Lapraille, television director. “The situation is being evaluated within RTL because it is important not to rush to hasty conclusions and to wait for judicial developments to make definitive decisions. Let us keep in mind that indictment does not mean conviction” , he concluded.
