Matías Almeyda reaches an agreement with his new club

Argentine coach and ex-soccer player Matias Almeyda will take the reins of the team Atenas, AEKafter the two parties reached a final agreement on Thursday, according to Greek media.

The 48-year-old coach, who until mid-April directed the San José Earthquakes in the American championship (MLS), will soon arrive in Athens to formally close his contract with 2 years with the possibility of extension for one more year with AEKwhich is currently in fifth place in the Super League standings, led by Olympiacos.

The earnings of the Argentine coach and the six members of his technical team will reach 1.2 million euros per year.

Almeyda traveled to Athens a few weeks ago to negotiate with the owner of AEK, Dimitris Melissanidis, and after that meeting the Athenian team, one of the largest and most historic in the country, made its final decision.
