“Investing well is not just for rich people,” says finance expert Pascal Paepen to our colleagues at HLN. Even with a sum of 500 euros, you can achieve a significant return, without necessarily investing in the stock market.

Be like a hamster “Do you have products you buy frequently or services you need? Take advantage of temporary offers to build up a stock, like a hamster stocking up. Evaluate the expiration date of products and estimate how much you will consume before this date.

If a 1+1 free offer is available, know that you get a 100% return on half of your purchase at the normal price. That’s about a hundred times more than you could get with a savings account. Stay reasonable, but it would be foolish to repurchase something at the normal price a week after such an offer. In this case, it is better to invest your savings in your stock. »

Insulate your home or invest in green “Despite falling electricity and gas bills, interest in investments in insulation or green energy is decreasing. However, these investments remain beneficial, both for the environment and for your wallet. If your house lacks insulation, you can sustainably reduce your future energy bills with 5,000 euros. Consider wall insulation or new windows. Get a quote for solar panels or a home battery. With less than 2,000 euros, you can also invest in a rainwater collection tank and a pump, allowing you to partly become your own water supplier. »

Invest fully in real estate “It may seem unbelievable, but with 5,000 euros you can already create a small real estate empire. The Brussels Stock Exchange offers the possibility of investing in various regulated real estate companies (GVV). You can buy Xior shares for 28 euros each to invest in student accommodation, with a net dividend of 4.4%. Or become a shareholder of Wereldhave Belgium for 47 euros, with a return of 6.2% thanks to store rentals. You can also opt for healthcare real estate by purchasing Care Property Invest shares for less than 13 euros, generating a net dividend of 6.6%. The return on paper real estate far exceeds that of real bricks. »

Many consider it impossible to save 50,000 euros, but many compatriots have this sum, or even more, in their savings account. If you are one of them, our finance expert, Pascal Paepen, advises you to act quickly: “It’s too much money to leave it unused. »

Get involved in the stock market, but assess your risk tolerance “Before investing 50,000 euros, evaluate your investor profile. Your bank will ask you this question before you start investing, in accordance with regulations. If a (temporary) loss of a thousand euros on the stock market keeps you up at night, you are a very cautious investor and should not bet entirely on stocks. In this case, consider branch 21 life insurance.”

“Most savers are willing to take on more risk, knowing that it can provide a better return in the long term. You can therefore invest 20,000 or even 30,000 euros in the stock market out of the 50,000 euros. Very dynamic investors, who are not disturbed by stock market corrections, can even invest up to 40,000 euros. »
