Event vouchers for 14,000 Viennese people on their 16th birthday

Vienna (OTS) The campaign for first-time voters: Mayor Michael Ludwig and Deputy Mayor and Youth City Councilor Christoph Wiederkehr congratulated all 16-year-old Viennese, who were given the right to vote this year, on their birthdays in the WIENXTRA youth information center in the 1st district on Thursday evening.

At the birthday party, 16 Viennese, who will be celebrating their 16th birthday in 2023, were symbolically sent congratulations and the first-time voters’ cake was tasted together. In their congratulations to the first-time voters, the mayor and deputy mayor emphasized how important it is for young people to help shape democracy and use the right to vote

Mayor Michael Ludwig motivated the newcomers to participate: “I congratulate all those who will be 16 this year on this special birthday. Because free elections are at the heart of democracy and only a vibrant democracy can positively shape our future. Vienna is the city of togetherness and social cohesion. As mayor, I would therefore like to encourage the many young Viennese to take advantage of the opportunity for political participation and exercise their right to vote.

Vice Mayor and Youth Councilor Christoph Wiederkehr added: “Free elections are one of the greatest assets of democracy. By voting, young people also have the chance to have a direct say and participate in political events. I am very pleased that more than 14,000 young people in Vienna can now exercise their right to vote for the first time!”
