The mayor of the commune of Mbacké, Gallo BA, this Wednesday, December 26, 2023, on the occasion of the launching ceremony of the national week of mother and child health held in Mbacké (commune), invites the health authorities to support the “Badiénou Gokh” for awareness raising in order to preserve the health of the mother and child.

Speaking at the launch of the National Mother and Child Health Week in Mbacké, Gallo Bâ emphasized prevention with the support of “Badiénou gokh” who, according to him, must raise awareness of the proposals in this direction. For the councilor of the town of Mbacké, the preventive aspect must be essential to preserve the health of the mother and child even if the curative aspect is important.

Furthermore, he welcomed the progress in the implementation of the project to transform the Mbacké health center into a level 1 hospital. “When I was elected mayor of Mbacké, I found the commune without health infrastructure worthy of the name. The lack of an operating room within the health center was the cause of several evacuations, especially among women during childbirth. Fortunately, our grievance did not fall on deaf ears because the Ministry of Health sent elements of the infrastructure and maintenance directorate to the places where the preliminary work was carried out,” a- he argued.

According to the mayor, the cost of the work, according to the health authorities, is estimated at five hundred (500) million CFA francs and the equipment, approximately, at the same trifle. At the same time, Gallo Bâ announced the repair work on the Mbacké Red Cross maternity ward which is in a very advanced state of disrepair. On this, the municipality will disburse one hundred and thirty (130) million of our francs. Among the authorities present at the ceremony, we can note the prefect, Khadim Hann, the regional chief medical officer, Dr Mamadou Dieng, and the Mbacké district chief medical officer, Mrs. Mbacké.
