After his country won the World Cup in 2018, the French footballer and World Cup holder, Adel Rami, addressed Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez with a slanderous phrase because of his behavior during the 2022 final match and his way of celebrating Argentina’s victory.
Ramy said that Martinez, who won the award for best goalkeeper in the World Cup, is “the biggest son of a bitch in world football,” adding that “Kylian Mbappe shocks them so much that they celebrate winning against our wonders more than they celebrate winning the World Cup.”
Rami continued on social networks by saying that the best goalkeeper in the World Cup was not Martinez, but Yassine Bounou, the Moroccan goalkeeper.
After the final match, Martinez waved his award as the best goalkeeper in the competition, made a sexual gesture towards the French fans, and launched a song that read, “A minute of silence for Mbappe, who died.”
Then, during the celebrations in Buenos Aires, he performed a doll bearing the image of Mbappe in front of the cheering crowd.
Many agreed that Martinez even crossed the line with his tense performance during the match, with some calling it “cheating”.
