Medellín prepares to receive at least 340,000 people during Holy Week

During Holy Week, Medellín expects to receive a significant flow of tourists, with approximately 340,000 people projected to enter the city.

According to estimates from the Tourist Intelligence System (SIT).

Of this figure, 40,000 are expected to arrive through the José María Córdova international airport, while 300,000 will arrive through the transport terminals.

The city, which currently has direct connections to 18 cities in 12 countries and 32 national destinations, is preparing to welcome these visitors with a variety of tourist attractions ranging from religious to cultural and natural.

«Holy Week represents a key milestone for Medellín to promote our religious, nature and cultural tourism.

It is a favorable moment for visitors to get to know our city, our customs and our gastronomic offer that the entire world falls in love with so much,” highlighted the Undersecretary of Tourism, Juliana Cardona Quirós.

In terms of accommodation, a hotel occupancy rate of 66.8% is projected, according to data from Cotelco Antioquia, which represents an increase of 5.1% compared to the previous year.

This increase in occupancy translates into an important economic benefit for the city, estimated at nearly 24.7 million dollars during the week.

With these promising figures, Medellín is positioned as an increasingly attractive and consolidated tourist destination, offering a unique experience to all those who decide to visit it during Holy Week.
