Thiruvananthapuram: There was a complaint that there was medical malpractice during childbirth at Neyyatinkara General Hospital. The family came forward alleging that the hand bone of the newborn was broken and the left hand had lost its mobility.

Prajith’s wife Kavya, a native of Avanakuzhi, gave birth at the Neyyatinkara General Hospital on March 27. In the complaint, the family claims that the child’s hand was fractured and the umbilical cord was pulled.

After birth, the baby could not move his left arm. When informed about this, the hospital authorities in Neyyatinkara said that it would be fine after two weeks. Another doctor there told me to show up at another hospital.

So SAT He sought treatment at the hospital. The hospital said that the hand bone was broken due to careless pulling of the baby during delivery. Currently the bone fracture is fixed but the nerve problem has not changed.

Kavya says that none of the doctors who examined Kavya during her pregnancy at the Neyyatinkara hospital were present during the delivery and only the junior doctor and nurses were present in the labor room during the delivery. The family has also lodged a complaint with the Health Minister. The hospital authorities are not ready to comment on the issue.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Veena George has instructed the Director of Health Department to investigate and take action on the complaint of medical malpractice.
