A gigantic 1.34 billion US dollars were in the pot of the American lottery “Mega Millions”. The jackpot was hit on Friday!
According to megamillions.com, the winning ticket was purchased in the US state of Illinois. The winning numbers: 13-36-45-57-67. Megaball: 14.
According to the lottery organizers, a single player scooped up the win – and bought the golden lottery ticket for just two dollars. Accordingly, he had bought the note at a gas station in the 60,000-inhabitant city of Des Plaines (US state Illinois).
The operator will be happy because he too will receive a cash prize of 500,000 dollars for winning.

The jackpot was so huge because no player has matched six since April 15th. There hasn’t been a jackpot winner in 29 consecutive draws. The odds of getting all the numbers right were 1 in 302.5 million.
The winner now has the choice of pension or cash: pay out $1.34 billion annually over 29 years, or collect an estimated $780.5 million in one fell swoop.
A higher tax is due for the one-off payment, so the sum is lower. Still, most Mega Millions winners go for the cash option.
