A few days after the altercation between LFI MP Louis Boyard and Cyril Hanouna, Jean-Luc Mélenchon decided to react publicly. He assures that he does not want to “throw stones” at the TPMP host and admits that he does not understand the criticism leveled at the party.

In a meeting in Clermont-Ferrand this Monday, November 14, Jean-Luc Mélenchon made a short break in his speech against the high cost of living to return to the controversy between his deputy LFI Louis Boyard and the host of TPMP. “Mr. Hanouna, I’m not going to throw stones at him. He is just uncovered. (…) He’s fuck you, I don’t give a fuck”. But the leader of the Insoumis however considered “incredible” the criticisms accusing the LFI deputies of accepting the invitations of TPMP and of playing into the game of the host. “In other words, it’s our fault!”

Indeed, several LFI deputies have taken to participating in the C8 broadcast. But they are not the only ones; within the government, Gabriel Attal; Gérald Darmanin and Marlène Schiappa also participated in the show.
“To be respected, you have to be respectable”
The candidate for the presidency of the Republicans, Eric Ciotti was not kind to Louis Boyard. “He was paid on this show some time ago, obviously a lot,” he said on France 2 on Tuesday. The latter also recalled statements on drug trafficking by the LFI deputy: “I repeat, to be respected, you have to be respectable, I believe that this is not the case with Mr. Boyard.”
For her part, Marine Le Pen estimated, on France Inter, “relatively funny” to “be given lessons in decorum by France Insoumise” while the latter “spend their lives insulting their political opponents of all names. They already start by applying a form of courtesy in the political debate, then they can complain of being mistreated.
“This complicit and permanent search for buzz, by the show on the one hand, by certain political formations on the other hand, can only lead to this paroxysmal scene”, deplores meanwhile Laurent Saint-Martin, a former deputy LREM.
“How can we be surprised today by such a disaster when a pure product of the show himself becomes elected by the Republic?”
Criticisms that Jean-Luc Mélenchon cannot bear. “The worst thing I’ve seen is ‘he criticizes, when he got paid when he was a columnist.’ If he had been there for free, it would have been said that he was going there to make himself interesting. If he hadn’t made himself interesting, it looked like he was going there, we don’t know why. In any case, he is wrong”, he declared during his meeting. And to conclude: “That press people say that he is caught up in his own game because he was paid before, that means that they will never criticize the hand that feeds them.”
