While the Corona 19 situation is facing the 6th pandemic due to the emergence of a new mutant virus, the World Health Organization (WHO) on the 23rd of last month declared a ‘Public Health Emergency of International (PHEIC)’ in response to the outbreak of monkeypox infection of the century. Cold water was poured on the earnest expectation of

Mental health problems that are collapsing due to the aftereffects of Long Covid are not just a phenomenon experienced by different age groups and occupations and specific countries.

Today, the role of ‘medical science’ in protecting humans from disease and leading a happy life is twofold. One is to explain the phenomena of empirical medicine with structural natural laws, and the other is to broaden the horizon of empirical medicine.

Here, oriental medicine has already developed a treatment method for the pathogenesis and stage through the characteristics of the patient and the dialectic by analyzing the human life form structurally and mechanically as ‘one body’, which is a unitary existence of ‘mind and body’ for thousands of years. Thus, it established a position in medical science.

In other words, in mental health oriental medicine, the developmental function (soul), propulsion function (god), integrated function (ui), inhibitory function (white), and calming function (intelligence) activities have been analyzed and utilized in clinical practice through structural epidemiologic analysis.

clinical case

A man in his 40s came to the hospital complaining of chest tightness, palpitations and dizziness. He complained with a serious expression, “Even after being hospitalized at a university hospital for several years with symptoms of severe respiratory distress and quadriplegia and treated for panic disorder, which is a chronic disease, there is no improvement.”

Oriental Doctor: When did the symptoms start?

Patient: (with anxious eyes) When I was looking for a job after returning home from language training in the Philippines, I suddenly fell at home sweating and unable to breathe, and it has been several years.

Oriental Doctor: (with a worried expression) It must have been a big deal. Did you get treatment?

Patient: (Surprisingly) At that time, I was diagnosed with panic disorder at a university hospital and went to work while receiving treatment, but it got worse and I took a year off from work. I got better and came back, but it relapsed and I’m taking a break now. Are you worried about the Corona situation?

Oriental Doctor: What are you doing, can you return to work?

Patient: It’s an automobile tech job, so when I get healthy, I can go back to work. At home, they are screaming for money. The eldest is a student…

Oriental Doctor: You must be worried a lot at home?

Patient: Both the family and the parents are very worried because the eldest son is often called 911. I have to take good care of my two children, the second is a middle school soccer player, I have an ankle injury, and the first is preparing for the military academy entrance exam.

Oriental Doctor: A technical job is a meticulous job, and it must have been very difficult to educate children, to take care of elderly parents, and to burn out.

Patient: (in a loud voice) Besides, the family secretly invested in BTS’s stock at the highest price, you know how it is now. I’m upset… I don’t know what the hell I’m thinking about stocks, and besides, that’s a college student loan. Just thinking about it makes me angry and dizzy.

Oriental Doctor: (Looking into eyes) As a parent, I wanted to take good care of my beloved children, but I must be very upset.

Patient: (thinking for a moment) Right. I want to be nice to my kids. So is the housekeeper. I don’t even have a good pair of clothes. It’s a penny or two, but it’s not a waste if I’d rather bought a luxury bag for my family (tears well up in my eyes).

Oriental doctor: (with sympathetic eyes) I will. Her wife also tried to help her family…

Patient: Ummm… yes… (bends head)

Oriental Doctor: You two are wonderful parents who care for each other and love their children. If you two want to discuss anything comfortably, you only need to learn how to have a friendly conversation.

Patient: (Laughs slightly) Is that so? If there is such a good thing, you should learn it. Talking with the teacher makes me feel at ease. I hope you get well soon and return to work.

I judged this patient to be ‘heart system, schizophrenia’ caused by exhaustion of ‘body and mind’ at work and home for a long time. .

In the family life cycle, patients who fall under the category of ‘families with adolescent children’ of middle school and high school 3 children developed ‘panic disorder’ as they concentrated their efforts with great interest and responsibility on education according to the characteristics of their children and children’s education expenses. will be.

In this way, it was possible to calm a patient whose divergence and propulsion function was neglected due to delusional cognition, and to connect it with family love by calming the patient with an integrative and inhibitory toilet therapy through cerebral metacognition expansion.

A patient who came to the hospital one month after taking the medication said, “He picks up the soccer player’s son to the stadium and sleeps well.” “My wife also took a summer vacation in time for my son’s soccer game. . I have to go back and return to work,” she smiles broadly.

Mental health oriental medicine, ‘medical science’ that prevents disease and provides a happy life

As seen in the above case, I was able to heal the body and mind through structural mechanics as a life phenomenon of five functional activities.

If expressed in a modern way, 魂 is the impulse sensory, God is the divine sensory, Will is the personality sensory, 魄 is the censorship sensory, and 志 is the operational sensory.

It is considered that even for severe mental health disease groups visited by practitioners of oriental medicine, the principle of epidemiologic structure, which came first before transfer to a tertiary medical institution, a university oriental medicine hospital, should be applied and utilized in mental health oriental medicine clinical trials.

It is in this context that the Korean Medicine Mental Health Center (KMMH) is conducting scientific research by applying the name of oriental medicine disease and dialectic system to innovative technology development projects such as the ‘brain research project’.
