Merging Success: Maxime Monfort Joins Lidl-Trek as Sporting Director

Maxime Monfort will join the Lidl-Trek team as sporting director from next season, the American team announced on Tuesday. At the end of the season, Monfort will therefore leave the Lotto Dstny team where he served as sports director and performance manager for 4 years.

The former runner, now 40, was delighted with the new challenge he is about to embark on. “I have always remained in contact with the Trek family since I left the structure ten years ago”explained Monfort, passed after the Leopard Trek and Radioshak formations, ancestors of the current Lidl-Trek.

“I was attracted by the sporting project and the high ambitions. I think my racing DNA will fit well with some of the team’s goals like performing well in stage races and hilly one-day races. J hope that I can contribute with my experience”, Monfort added.

An experience dot his future employer looking forward to benefit, can we read in the press release. The Lidl-Trek team is therefore making a new investment for next season after having already recorded 8 incoming transfers, including the former Giro winner Tao Geoghegan Hart and the sprinter To install Jonathan Milan.

In 16 professional seasons, Maxime Monfort notably collected 5 victories and a fifth place overall in the 2011 Vuelta.
