Almost nine years after spinning off Messenger from the Facebook mobile app, Meta now plans to make the tworeintegrateWoke up. “We are testing the ability for users to view their Messenger messages in the Facebook app, and you will soon see the test expand further.” Facebook head Tom Alison wrote on the official blog. “At the end of the day, we We want people to be able to easily and conveniently connect and share, whether it’s in Messenger or directly on Facebook.”
When Messnger spun off in 2014, the official idea was to “focus development efforts on making Messenger the best mobile messaging experience possible” and “avoid confusion caused by different Facebook messaging experiences.” It’s unclear whether Meta will also bring Messenger back to the mobile web version of Facebook, and users may be able to message Instagram users directly from within the Facebook app in the future.
To boost Facebook’s competitiveness against TikTok, Meta is trying to transform it from an app for keeping friends and family in touch into an entertainment and content discovery platform. “We want to make Facebook the best place for social discovery and sharing,” Alison wrote on his blog. “One of the important parts of using AI to bring the best experience to users is to let people do it without switching apps. Now, it’s easier to share what they discover on Facebook via messaging.”
