Mexico prepares for another hurricane; tropical storm roslyn continues to gain strength

The tormenta tropical Roslyn continues to gain strength Friday off the coast of Mexico in the Pacific and meteorologists expect it to reach hurricane status when its eye makes landfall possibly this weekend, between the beaches of Vallarta PortJalisco, and MazatlanSinaloa.

The United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported that maximum winds Roslyn’s sharps increased to 105 kilometers per hour early Friday.

Its vortex was about 475 kilometers south-southeast of Cape Corrientes, which juts out into the Pacific south of Puerto Vallarta. It was moving at 11 km/h in a west-northwest direction.

Forecasters expect Roslyn to continue to gain strength and reach the category of category 2 hurricane before reaching the coast on Saturday night or Sunday.

According to the NHC, Roslyn’s tropical storm force winds were reaching up to 145 kilometers from the vortex.

Mexico issued tropical storm watches for a coastal line from Cabo Corrientes to the south.

The National Water Comission of Mexico pointed out that the rains thrown by the meteor could cause landslides and floods.

In Guerrero are forecast punctual rains intense; in Michoacán there will be very heavy rains; and in Jalisco, Colima and Oaxaca heavy rains are expected.
