The Polish national team has found a new head coach in Michal Probierz.

The 50-year-old is the successor to Fernando Santos, who was recently released.

“This is the best possible choice. I wish the new coach good luck!”, commented association president Cezary Kulesza on the coach’s selection. Probierz previously coached the Polish U21 team and will now lead the white-reds to EURO 2024 in Germany. In qualifying, the team is currently only in fourth place in Group E behind Albania, the Czech Republic and Moldova.

Probierz is known in Germany through his stints as a player at Bayer 05 (later KFC) Uerdingen and Wattenscheid 09. There he played 26 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and three games in the German upper house.
