Microsoft plans to cut 4.5% of employees in the US division. This will affect more than 10 thousand people.
The layoffs will take place at the end of the third financial quarter, that is, until March 31, 2023. We are talking regarding reductions among the developers of devices and components, which are associated with changes in the macroeconomics and consumer demand. According to an internal letter, redundant employees will be notified no later than 60 days before the contract termination date, and may also be eligible for above-market financial compensation, relocation assistance, and six-monthly health insurance extensions.
This is not the first reduction at Microsoft: in October 2022, more than a thousand employees were laid off. Some of them belonged to the Xbox gaming division.
