Microsoft is testing a new interface design for the Xbox Games and Apps section

The Games and Apps section of the Xbox app allows users to browse all their installed content and games that are available for download, and according to a new report from WindowsCentral, Microsoft is testing a new interface for this section with the latest Xbox Insider Alpha Ring build.

The company has made some notable changes to the Xbox dashboard with recent updates, according to the report, one of the most notable among them is the inclusion of Discord which is currently also only available to members of the Xbox Insider Program.

New interface for Xbox Games and Apps section: Availability

The remastered version of the Xbox Game and App Library is now available as part of the Xbox Insider Program. The report suggests that this new interface is expected to be rolled out to the general public in the coming weeks.

What does the new interface look like

According to the report, the new interface has reshaped the “Full Library” section of the Xbox dashboard that was “a bit crowded” in its previous design, and the report notes that the new design features a “tabbed interface with horizontal labels” for different types of content.

The new interface also separates the “Owned Games” section which includes games that users have purchased from libraries such as – Xbox Game Pass or EA Play. Furthermore, each section will have a feature-specific layout of relevant content groups, the report adds.

According to the report, the new sections will be named – All Games, Owned Games, Xbox Game Pass, EA Play, Games with Gold, and a section for content-streaming apps (such as – Netflix, Disney +, Spotify and more).

Why is Microsoft testing the new interface?

The report speculates that Microsoft may be testing this “simplified section” to include other game subscription groups in the library in the coming days. Recently, a Twitter user discovered the origins of Ubisoft+ in the Xbox backend.

Microsoft is said to be exploring a partnership with Assassin’s Creed publisher that is similar to what Xbox Game Pass has with EA Play.

Ubisoft+ is already available as a standalone service on PCs, however, subscription to this platform can also be purchased as part of a PlayStation Plus membership and is also available with Amazon Luna game streaming service.
