Microsoft is providing Windows 11 with the first major feature update, in which some functions are integrated that should actually be there when the new operating system starts. However, there is still an ugly limitation for us when it comes to the Android apps.

Windows 11: First major update is here

Windows 11 is actually still very young and has only really been pushed onto all PCs for a few weeks. The update is now even being displayed to me, although Microsoft has always said before that you can only expect it in the middle of 2022 if you don’t have a new PC. So everything goes a little faster. But the development goes on and the innovations announced at the end of January are now unlocked for everyone (source: Windows Blog). Including those Android apps you can get from the Amazon App Store in Windows 11. You can see how this works in the video above.

The only problem at the moment is that this function has so far been reserved for US users. We in Germany cannot yet access and install the Android apps on our Windows 11 PCs.

Microsoft extends the taskbar in Windows 11

Microsoft has also attached great importance to the further development of the taskbar in Windows 11. There should more and more functions are directly accessible:

  • For example, you can now disable and re-enable the microphone in a call from the taskbar.
  • In addition, certain content can be shared immediately.
  • The weather widget now moves to the left side where the Windows button is on older versions. If you move the mouse over it, you can see more information in many widgets.
  • The time and date are displayed on each desktop when using multiple monitors.

Notepad and Media Player revised

Notepad and the media player have been completely redesigned. For example, the text editor now also offers a dark mode. In the media player you should now be able to enjoy your videos and music even better. In the future, Microsoft wants to equip Windows 11 with more and more innovative functions.
