Microsoft has announced that it will stop developing WordPad with a future Windows update, without specifying a date for this change. WordPad is a basic text-editing application that allows users to create and edit documents containing formatted text and insert images and links to other files. This program can usually be found automatically installed on Windows operating systems from 1995 with the release of Windows 95, until today. for WordPad and as Notepad for those who don’t need rich-text support. “WordPad is no longer updated and will be removed in a future release,” the company said, continuing, “We recommend Microsoft Word for rich-text documents such as .doc and .rtf, and Notepad for plain text documents such as .doc and .rtf. .txt”. Previous security reports indicated that the Qbot malware was spreading through Windows operating system devices, specifically through the “Wordpad” program.
