Mikołów: Child in the Window of Life

In the “window of life” named after blessed Edmund Bojanowski, which is located in the Home for Small Children at ul. Saint Kazimierz in Częstochowa, on March 11, a child was left behind. It was warmly dressed, wrapped in a blanket, a jacket for a 4-5-year-old child, a women’s and a men’s sweater – it was obvious that someone took care not to get cold.

The boy’s condition indicated that he had been given up immediately after birth, as his umbilical cord had not yet been cut from the placenta. Shortly after the nurse’s examination, an ambulance arrived and took the child to the neonatal ward at the hospital in Parkitka. The healthy, although tiny boy weighed 2,290 g and was 52 cm tall. Since March 18, she has been back in the House run by the sisters from the Congregation of the Servants of the Blessed Virgin Mary Immaculate Conception. After the time in which the mother has the right to change her mind and apply for the child has passed, the court will begin the process of giving the boy a name and surname and a legal guardian, then the child can be put up for adoption. The legal process for a child left in the “window of life” is shorter than in a situation where the child arrives at a care facility through a different route.
