China’s dairy production increased in 2021, boosted by a steady recovery in demand, according to an industry report.

The country’s dairy production stood at 37.78 million tonnes last year, up 7 percent year-on-year, said the report released at a dairy conference and exhibition which was held last week in Jinan, Shandong province.

The proportion of large-scale animal husbandry reached 70 percent, up 2.8 percentage points from the previous year’s level.

The vast majority of the country’s infant formula market was in the hands of domestic brands, with domestic manufacturers holding 68% of the market.

China’s dairy output maintained robust growth in the first half of the year, rising 8.4 percent year-on-year, according to the report.
