It was a reader who sent us this page, which is astonishing to say the least, from the “Pro-pleasure Anti-Inflation Solutions” published by Auchan this week, writing to us that the mass-market brand “ takes consumers for pigeons of the year ».
Among the “promotions”, this mini-pot of Nutella containing only 25 g of spread compared to 200 g, 400 g, 750g or 1 kg for the usual packaging. As for the price, 1 euro, it is in fact insane compared to the kilo: 1 euro for 25 grams of Nutella, this actually corresponds to 40 euros per kilo of spread, compared to just under 7 euros per kilo (6.59 € precisely), usual price for this 750 gram jar (here on the Chronodrive website).
Contacted on the subject, Auchan told us that this is a product normally intended for cafes, restaurants and hotels and that the prices and conditions of purchase are therefore not the same, and highlights the additional cost linked to the packaging, the price of the glass having a greater proportion than the spread compared to the 1 kg format. And to point out the fact that e-commerce platforms also sell it at even higher prices per kilo. Except that it is not then proposed as an “anti-inflation solution”.
