Defense Minister Jorge Chávez Cresta arrived at the Peru-Chile border, in Tacna, to supervise the entry of an Army contingent. This group of the Armed Forces will support immigration control before the registration of dozens of undocumented foreigners.
Chávez remarked that this action does not have the objective of militarizing the border, nor the city of Tacna. He asserted that the objective is to offer support to the National Police of Peru. «The support of the Armed forces to the Police does not mean the militarization of the borders.
