The Minister of Education, Rosendo Serna, announced that the goal of his sector is that on the first business day of March, educational institutions are properly prepared for the start of school classes.

During his participation before the Education Commission of Congress, he indicated that through the maintenance program for educational institutions, an investment of 295 million soles is being made, which is being transferred to serve more than 54,847 school premises.

“This injection of money is direct to the director of the educational institution, in order to prepare the best conditions of infrastructure or basic services, (…) with a little more motivation it must be achieved and the goal is that the first On a working day in March, all educational institutions must be ready, “he said.

In this sense, he specified that an investment of 123 million soles is also taken into account for the delivery of hygiene kits, as well as another 145 million soles for biosafety kits.

He added that together with the Ministry of Health they are determined that all teachers are vaccinated before the start of classes, being that so far 90 percent have been vaccinated, and 33 percent in the case of students.

Likewise, he explained that the current context indicates that infrastructure, a total of 70 percent of educational facilities require intervention, while 39.1 percent need a total replacement; 43 percent of institutions have connectivity and 21 percent of students have a computer and Internet access at home.

Start of classes

At another time, he assured that the main milestone was that by March 28 classes should have started in all educational institutions, indicating that within the flexibility regarding this issue, some will be operational much earlier.

“The orientation will strengthen the autonomy of the educational institution so that the schedules are not subject to what the Minedu says, that is, on that day classes start, but the regions can flexibly adopt the start of school work” added.

Timeline

In addition, he explained that the schedule establishes that since January 3, the managerial, administrative and cleaning personnel have already been carrying out activities to generate the conditions for the return to the classrooms.

While between January and February, students will be able to make use of the open spaces for the development of artistic, sports and recovery learning activities.

While on March 1, teachers and auxiliary promoters join educational institutions to plan the welcome of students.
