Guests of the Minister of Justice were filmed urinating on a police vehicle. The minister had explained that he was not aware but a video where we see him in the street seems to indicate the opposite. He insisted on showing the images to give his version of the facts.

Transparency operation for Vincent Van Quickenborne. The Minister explains that that evening, he called a taxi for one of his guests at 3:30 in the morning. This would have taken 40 minutes to arrive.

On the images he presents, we see him at 3:59 a.m. making a movement which may suggest that he is referring to the incident which took place earlier, when guests urinated on a police vehicle. “I make a move that can make you wonder what I was doing“, he explains. “I don’t know exactly what I did, it could be another move. But does that show that I have knowledge of what happened hours before? In my opinion no. Because I didn’t know and I was disgusted when the pictures came out.

It was on the basis of those few seconds that he was accused of knowing what had happened. “I have no problem revealing the images even if it concerns my private life“, indicates the minister. “I prove my innocence.”

“I take a picture”

Seconds later, Vincent Van Quickenborne takes out his phone and some say there were pictures of the incidents on it. “Yet we see a flash and so I take a picture“, he explains, showing the selfie on his phone. “We just laugh at the selfie because when we see it, we must laugh at it.”

Regarding the moment when we see him open and close the police suit, the Minister of Justice indicates that he simply locked the vehicle.

Vincent Van Quickenborne indique que “the incidents are disgusting and that I want to apologize for what these people have done.

He concludes by saying that a “witch hunt” is launched against him.

Resignation request

The case dubbed “pipigate” also takes a political turn. The Flemish far-right demands his resignation. Flemish nationalists have the same request if Vincent Van Quickenborne has indeed lied.

The Minister of Justice will be heard Thursday in parliament.
