Dammam: The Ministry of Commerce seized 127,000 fake tires in Saudi Arabia through inspection. As the country entered the heat wave, the number of vehicle accidents involving burst tires has increased. The ministry organizes lightning inspections with machines to ensure the quality of the tyre.
The Ministry of Commerce has started inspections at tire distribution centers in Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah provinces. During the inspection, it was found that substandard products were affixed stickers and sold under fake brands and falsification of tire manufacturing dates. It was also found that some of the seized items were pre-dated in the coming months. Inspection has already been completed in 452 institutions. The ministry also said that the law violators and entities have been charged under the Anti-Commercial Fraud Act and handed over to public prosecution.
