Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi confirmed that his team would not count on winning a clean double against Benfica in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, and stressed the need to “present a good match against a big opponent” in the second leg.
Inzaghi said about this decisive confrontation, which will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, at the “San Siro” stadium: “It is the second part of a very important and complex match that we will play, and we have the advantage.”
Inzaghi added, “We will have to get through this match together, knowing that it could put us among the best 4 in Europe.”
The Italian coach is facing a wave of criticism because of the bad period the team is going through in the Italian league, as it has not won since last March 5, but he stressed that “this matter is not a problem for me, as the criticism helps me to do more work.”
And Inzaghi highlighted that, “We still have 8 matches ahead of us and we have a margin for recovery, but we have to focus on facing Benfica, because reaching the semi-finals will be a great achievement.”
