“Ministry of Health Reports Decrease in Complaints about Ill-Treatment in Government and Private Hospitals, as well as Medication and Vaccination Shortages”

The Ministry of Health received 293 complaints during the period from 20 to 26 April related to ill-treatment against government and private hospitals, health centers, and staff, which is the lowest percentage since last February, whose second week witnessed the registration of 655 complaints.

In a report seen by “News 24”, the medical staff issued 219 complaints related to cadres, then the administrative staff with 42, compared to 16 for the pharmacist, 9 for the duty manager, and 6 against the security men, while the most types of complaints came for inappropriate behavior with 233 complaints, then 44 patients or auditors were expelled, 11 reports of verbal abuse, 4 physical attacks, and 1 sexual assault report.

The most reports by region came from the Health Cluster of Madinah with 35 reports, then Asir with 26, Jeddah with 23, the first cluster of Riyadh, with 21, and the first cluster of Makkah, with 18.

The most reported government hospitals were Al-Noor Specialist Hospital in Makkah with 6 complaints, followed by King Fahd Hospital in Madinah, Madinah General Hospital, Maternity and Children Hospital in Madinah, and Hafar Al-Batin Central Hospital, all of which had a number of 4, while the most reported health centers were the Laban Al-Sharqi Health Center in Riyadh, with 4. And then the Umm Sarar Health Center in Asir, with 3 reports.

As for the private facilities with the most reports, they are Al-Mowasat Hospital in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah with 3 reports, Awas Medical Complex in Jeddah, Wahat Al-Shifa General Medical Complex in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and Musharkar Hospital in Asir with two reports each.

Medication shortages

During the same period, the Ministry received more than 143,000 incoming calls on the communications number 937 related to health services complaints in health facilities. From 4.5 thousand, then health centers with 1.7 thousand, and the private sector with 1.5 thousand

The most frequent complaints were related to problems receiving patients, clinic appointments, and non-compliance with being inside the facility.
