The Colegio Colsubsidio Ciudadela is in the ‘eye of the hurricane’ due to a complaint that went viral on social networks after the mother of a nine-year-old girl from the third grade send a message to a group of parents, stating that their daughter had been the victim of sexual abuse by a teacher of said educational institution.
Given this, some parents showed their astonishment and anger, so the school issued a circular, in which they summoned a meeting to publicize a situation with a student.

“Last Monday the school, through an official letter, summoned the parents of the third grade to tell us about a novelty that had occurred with one of the students, what they told us at the meeting was that there was an alleged case of abuse by the of one of the professors who teaches the area of mathematics and at the moment the school has not formalized for us this situation, because it only addressed the third grade, and we are concerned because it is a very sensitive issue and the institution should speak out before the entire educational community so that other parents are careful with their children”, said one of the parents of family who attended the meeting.
Likewise, the father assured that these types of situations are unfortunate and added that the school is not supporting parents in a way that he considers appropriate in this type of situation.
“I understand that the victim’s mother was the one who had to go to the police to file the respective complaint and make various arrangements on their own, as soon as they found out about the situation, but I think that more accompaniment from the school has been necessary,” said the father of the family.

Faced with this situation, the institution stated in a letter addressed to the parents of the third grade that: “In the event of any case of alleged violation of the rights of our students, is ready to collaborate with the authorities always following the processes and protocols established by law, Colegio Colsubsidio Ciudadela guarantees all its students their protection and safety, ensuring their integrity and rights”.
RCN Radio consulted the victim’s mother on Tuesday, but she preferred to omit any opinion until the proceedings in Legal Medicine and the Prosecutor’s Office were completed, although he did confirm that his daughter had indeed told him about the situation and pointed out He hopes that the corresponding investigation of the case will be carried out.
What the District Says:
Once this situation was made public, the Secretary of Education of the District rejected what happened through a statement, informing that the entity is working in an articulated way with other entities that guarantee rights of the national and district order so that the necessary measures are taken, aimed at investigating and punishing who violates the integrity of students.
Likewise, some actions were determined such as: The immediate withdrawal of the teacher from any academic activity, ask the prosecutor an investigation open to the accused, Support was requested from the Ministry of Health for the attention of the minor, and in addition, the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare was informed of the situation for the reestablishment of the rights of the girl.
