On April 24, 2022, the young James Howard-Jones was assaulted by a subject who gave him a brutal beating in the city of Cheltenham (England).

This meant injuries that left him in a coma and depending on a machine to survive, indicates ABC.

Now, a year and a half after this terrible event, the 28-year-old man was going to be disconnected from the machine that kept him alive, but he miraculously woke up from a coma.

What happened to James Howard-Jones?

The young man was robbed during the night by Ben Davis24 years old, and who was sentenced to two years and four months in jail.

James was taken to the nearest hospital for the beating he received from the offender, from which he was seriously injured. But he remained unconscious for weeks, during which he had to be operated several times urgently to save his life.

James’s dad Neil Howard-Jones, he had noted that “the first few weeks the doctors told them that James’s brain was dead and the best we could do was let him die.”

All this before the young man miraculously woke up from his coma and began to improve his health slightly.

How is the young man now?

James, who was athlete, now he will have physical and mental sequelae that will keep him in care for the rest of his life. It should be noted that waking up from a coma is not like in the movies, but after this comes a long process of rehabilitation.

The prosecutor in the case, Jack Berry, explained that “James is fully aware of his new condition and can realize everything he has lost, also producing severe depression as a consequence.”

Here are some photos of James before the assault (in one he appears in the hospital, but it was from a previous bicycle accident)
