It’s a very beautiful story shared by an association called “le petit chat” in France. Frédéric and Sophie have the nice surprise of finding their cat Linette after 6 years of absence!
“We have just found your cat Linette, declared lost in 2017 in Savoie. Can you contact us please? » It is with this call from a veterinarian that this crazy story begins, as reported in the newspaper La Dépêche.

On Facebook, the association explains: “A person I know is calling me because a little cat has taken up residence in her home. A hell of a Burma. I move around suspecting that this cat was chipped. Checked, I was right. I go to the vet to call the owner. Linette has been declared lost since 2017. The contact details of the holder have since been updated. It’s the vet calling. This afternoon, news from the vet, the owners are on their butts. Their cat did disappear in 2017… They still have all the papers and will come and look for her, traveling many km…”
In fact, Linette was more than 1000 kilometers from home! The owners being in Antibes (not far from Cannes) and the cat having been found in Pas-de-Calais.
They are in shock: “She was the darling of our daughter Juliette, who was 8 years old at the time, and who had cried a lot when she disappeared, say the parents. We still sometimes talked about her, or we came across photos… We told her that if Linette had been stolen, she would one day end up in the hands of a veterinarian who would realize that she was not alive. not in his real home and would contact us. But we didn’t really believe it anymore, even though we always kept our health records, just in case…” When their daughter heard the news, “we saw her eyes light up.”
All that’s left to do is travel to the north of France to make this moving reunion a reality!
