Mirallas charmed by Sa Pinto and Portugal

For the first time in his career, Kevin Mirallas has just spent long months away from professional football. Without a club since leaving Gaziantep (Turkish D1) last June, the 34-year-old striker has waited in the shadows for an opportunity to arise.

He first trained with the Standard U21s for a few weeks, without however receiving a contract. Waasland-Beveren made eyes at him but the former Everton player kindly declined.

It is finally a small twist of fate that will allow him to get back in the saddle. Ricardo Sa Pinto, whom Mirallas knew well during his time at Gaziantep, has just been appointed head of Moreirense, in Portuguese D1. And to try to save the club from relegation (currently 16th out of 18), the former Standard coach wants to bring a touch of experience to his attack.

According to our information, it was Ricardo Sa Pinto himself who pushed for Kevin Mirallas to join him in Portugal. The signing is not yet in effect but there is almost no doubt that the ex-Red Devil will end the season in the small town of Moreira da Maia, just north of Porto.

After France (Lille and Saint-Etienne), Greece (Olympiacos), England (Everton), Italy (Fiorentina), Belgium (Antwerp)
