If anyone has been a total revelation for the Atlanta Braves, that one has a first and last name: Spencer Strider.
At the beginning of this major league season, the right-hander wasn’t part of the rotation, but with a great strikeout ability he is now immovable from manager Brian Snitker’s starting quintet; his percentage, before Thursday’s session, was 13.3.

That quality is shown in maximum splendor against the Colorado Rockies, who presented themselves with the second best collective average: .260, and that was of little use to them since Strider struck out up to 16 times.
According to Kevin McAlpin, of Braves Radio Net, that amount, achieved in a 9-inning game, is a new record for the Aboriginal franchise, since the one achieved by Warren Spahn of 18 strikeouts, corresponded to an 18-inning duel.
Spencer Strider closes out the eighth inning with a strikeout of Sean Bouchard.
For Strider, it’s his 16th strikeout of the game. That’s a new franchise record for most strikeouts in a nine inning game. The all-time record is held by Warren Spahn (18 in a 15 inning game 6/14/52)

Only the Venezuelan Elías Díaz was saved from the streamers of number 65; Ryan McMahon received 1, José Iglesias, Charlie Blackmon, CJ Cron, Randal Grichuk, Michael Toglia and Elehuris Montero 2, while Sean Bouchard 3.
Of the 16 chocolates, 1 was watching her go by (Bouchard) and another by foul tip (Iglesias); in two innings she struck out all three and in 4 she guillotined 2. In addition, she only had a couple of hits, a single by Cron in the fifth and a double by Toglia in the eighth.
