New Delhi ∙ Even on the eve of Republic Day, the controversy surrounding the screening of a BBC documentary has left the national capital in turmoil. 5 student leaders, including the Malayalis of SFI and NSUI, who decided to hold a demonstration at Jamia Millia University, were detained.

They were detained when they went to discuss with the university authorities. After hearing the information, more than 70 students who took a protest march from Sukhdev Vihar metro station to the campus were taken into custody. The evening decided to postpone the show. The student organizations got an assurance that those detained will be released late at night. However, the police did not officially confirm that he was taken into custody.

The university authorities had warned that strict action would be taken if the exhibition was held in violation of the ban. Gathering in the campus is also prohibited. Amidst the controversy, the BBC aired the second part of the documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’.

Wide exhibition in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ The documentary was widely screened in Kerala yesterday. BJP and Yuva Morcha workers were arrested in Thiruvananthapuram Vellayani. On Wednesday, the police registered a case against BJP workers who tried to stop the demonstration at Manaviyam Veethi and Poojapura. As an alternative to DYFI’s exhibition at Changanassery Perunna bus stand, BJP workers staged ‘T.P. 51’ movie was screened.
