The head of the Egyptian Reform and Development Party, Mohamed Anwar Sadat, said that the Arabic translation of the dialogue he recently conducted with the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth was not accurate, and that the messages he wanted to convey through the dialogue were taken out of context, as he described it.

Sadat added to the (evening) program on Al Jazeera Mubasher, “I had no problem from the beginning in conducting an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, because I see that the Israeli community, and the international community behind it, must hear the voice of all Egyptians and Arabs, and know that what they are doing in Gaza is… This is unacceptable, and this was the goal of my dialogue with them.”

Sadat, the nephew of the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, sparked widespread controversy in Egypt, after the statements he made to the Israeli newspaper, where he said that Tel Aviv had the right to defend itself after the October 7 attack.

“This is what I said in text.”

When asked about these statements, Sadat told Al Jazeera Mubasher, “What I said in text is that I understand the shock of the Israelis as a result of the Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement) attack on them on October 7, but I did not mean that I understand their brutal reaction.”

He continued, “No rational person can understand what Israel is doing in Gaza now, let alone an Arab Muslim, and we are all living the Palestinian issue in all its details. I warned the Israelis in my interview of the consequences of their presence in the Salah al-Din axis or the Philadelphia axis, and I assured them that this matter is unacceptable.” “.

In late December, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his desire to control the Philadelphia border axis between Gaza and Egypt.

Netanyahu stated at the time that his country wanted to ensure that Gaza did not pose a threat to it, and added that the Philadelphia axis must be in Israeli hands and control, and that Israel would not accept any other option.

Cairo then responded, saying that any Israeli move towards occupying the Salah al-Din (Philadelphia) axis in the Gaza Strip would lead to a serious and serious threat to Egyptian-Israeli relations.
