His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, affirmed the UAE’s endeavor to contribute to strengthening the foundations of peace and stability in the world, and to work to reduce tensions and find diplomatic solutions to the crises it is witnessing.
This came when President Vladimir Putin, President of the friendly Federal Republic of Russia, received His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, on Tuesday.
His Highness said on Twitter yesterday: “I met Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. We discussed a number of issues and developments of common concern, foremost of which are the developments of the Ukrainian crisis, and the importance of supporting diplomatic efforts that serve all parties and achieve peace and stability in the world.”
At the beginning of the bilateral meeting, the Russian President welcomed His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and they discussed various aspects of UAE-Russian relations. His Highness and the Russian President also reviewed a number of regional and international issues and developments of common concern, and the two sides discussed political events and reducing tensions.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan pointed to the importance of continuing to make unremitting efforts to search for political solutions to crises and tensions and to find a suitable platform for all parties to dialogue. He stressed the UAE’s policy in support of peace and stability on the regional and international arenas, and called for the need to continue consultations. The seriousness of resolving the Ukrainian crisis, regardless of its difficulty and complexity, through dialogue, negotiation and diplomatic mechanisms to reach a political settlement, in order to achieve global peace and security.

During the visit, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, and Vladimir Putin discussed various aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries, and indicated that the level of these relations is witnessing rapid growth. The two sides expressed their satisfaction with this continuous growth in the relations of cooperation between the two countries. President Vladimir Putin briefed His Highness in detail on the situation at the Zaporizhia nuclear plant and the efforts made by the Russian side to ensure the safety of nuclear security, while His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed the UAE’s follow-up to the situation regarding the station. The UAE also played an important role in the prisoner exchange process between Russia and Ukraine.. In this regard, President Vladimir Putin affirmed that the Russian side appreciates these efforts undertaken by the UAE, which affirmed its readiness to continue mediation efforts. In this context, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan briefed the Russian President on the Ukrainian side’s position on a number of issues. During the meeting, His Highness touched on the possibility of continuing dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, while President Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia is interested in the continuation of the Emirati mediation efforts.
