Each resident can ask to be vaccinated in prevention or after a risky contact.
Monkey pox continues to spread. End of July, the Principality experienced its first case of smallpox. So far, three cases have been declared positive in Monaco, including one resident. All recovered without any notable complications.
To stop the spread, Monaco has a stock of JYNNEOS vaccines allowing it to take care of its population. Thus, residents can now go and get vaccinated at the Monegasque Screening Center located at the Princess Grace Hospital Center.
The virus, similar to smallpox, brings fever, muscle aches, fatigue, possible swollen glands and an extensive rash. The disease heals in two to four weeks and is contagious as soon as symptoms appear.
Vaccination is therefore recommended for adults who have had risky contact with a patient, but also as a preventive measure, for the groups most exposed to the disease. Indeed, the disease is contracted, in 90% of cases, during sexual intercourse.
