Monkeypox Jalisco: 11 people seek medical attention after first case in Puerto Vallarta


The Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) reported that 11 people have requested medical attention to clarify their doubts in the module installed in Puerto Vallarta, after the conditions were announced of the first case of Monkeypox in the State.

The agency reported that 11 people attended the Puerto Vallarta Regional Public Health Laboratory. (8 men and three women).

Seven of them mentioned have been in the facilities of Mantamar Beach Club in the period from May 27 to June 4, where the first infected person of American origin who left the country was also without respecting the period of isolation.

It was detailed that none of the people who went to the module had a history of traveling abroad.

Although at the time of the evaluation none of those who attended met the operational definition of a case, “all they were instructed to maintain surveillance of the state of health and telephone follow-up will be given daily,” reported the SSJ.

The governor of Jalisco assured that they have already identified contacts of the first case of monkeypox in Jalisco and they are being followed up on time.

“It is a case; It is not minimizing anything, you have to attend to it, you have to follow up, but it is a case. We are going to review the issue and be reporting, but there is no additional measure right now that you have to take,” he said.

“There is already contact with the people we have identified who had some kind of contact with this person and we will be ruling out that there has been another contagion and informing them at the time”, he explained.
